因丈夫在外和情人有了孩子，婚后多年未能生育的百合子（永作博美 饰）在提交了离婚申请书后，只身落寞返回故乡。此前不久，她的继母乙美刚刚过世，失去妻子周到照顾的老父亲热田良平（石桥莲司 饰）凄凉内疚。乙美生前曾照顾许多内心有各种障碍的孩子，绰号小芋的女孩井本幸惠（二阶堂富美 饰）正是其中一员。她此前受乙美所托，开心满怀地来到热田家，找到乙美生前制作的漫画笔记，要给逝者办一场热热闹闹的七七聚会。小芋和巴西人后代春乃助（冈田将生 饰）相继到来，令这对沉浸在悲伤气氛中的父女慢慢振作起来。他们回忆着乙美生前的点点滴滴，在逝者最后的悉心关怀下，朝着幸福的明天迈进……。Running Time was filmed in black and white, in real time, and seemingly takes place in one continuous, fluid shot.
